Terra Verde Africa congratulates WFP on the Nobel Peace Prize 2020

Terra Verde Africa congratulates the UN World Food Programme, warmly on the Nobel Peace Prize 2020. The prize is both recognition and a signal for the connections between hunger and instability in crisis regions.

The award motivates and informs all comrades-in-arms and interested parties that hunger can be both a cause and a consequence of conflicts. A topic that is looking for a political echo in the European Union, because the close proximity to Africa means enormous challenges for the future and present: hunger and destabilizing terror are still used as a strategic instrument of war – to the sorrow of the poorest.

“Rising terror is causing a million internal refugees in Burkina Faso. The food security of solidary farming families hosting refugees is at risk”.

Melchior Landolt

It’s a fact

Sufficient food is the basis for peace! It is high time for the international community to intensify cooperation with private organisations and civil society. Only by joining forces can the structural causes of hunger and corruption be eliminated, for more peace and stability on the African continent.

A just world is a world without hunger. That’s what our heart beats for.
